Account Verification
This page covers everyone who opens an account with Wasaga Beach Casino or already has one. It applies when you register, before you first deposit, before any withdrawal and whenever the law or activity on your account requires a new check.
Understanding why we verify
1.1 We welcome players only from regions whose own laws permit gambling. Canadian rules on anti-money-laundering, age verification and ID checks apply to us, so we check your details to meet them.
1.2 Checking every player helps us keep anyone under 19 out, stop the use of stolen identities and payment details, pay winnings to the right person and keep criminal money away from our cashier.
1.3 We check identity and age before you can make any deposit. A geolocation check runs alongside these to confirm your location is one we serve.
1.4 Most checks are automatic and rely on the information you provide when you register. In some cases we will also ask you for documents, as section 7 describes.
Knowing what happens when a check fails
2.1 Where your identity, age or location cannot be confirmed, deposits remain blocked until the issue is resolved.
2.2 Withdrawals are paused until any requested documents arrive and pass our checks.
2.3 We close the account if documents have been altered, belong to another person or show the player to be under 19. Our 19+ Policy explains what happens to the balance of an underage account.
2.4 Where fraud or money laundering is suspected, we may freeze the account and keep funds held for the period the law demands.
2.5 We tell you by email what is missing or what went wrong, unless the law prevents us from explaining.
Keeping records and meeting reporting duties
3.1 We keep records of identity checks, documents and transactions for as long as Canadian law requires.
3.2 These records sit in secure storage, and only the team members whose work requires them can open them. You can read how we protect personal information in our Privacy Policy.
3.3 If Canadian law obliges us to, we file reports with the appropriate Canadian authorities on suspicious transactions, as well as on some large transactions.
3.4 The law stops us from saying whether any such report exists, so we are unable to answer questions about it.
Asking about source of funds
4.1 Sometimes we are required to ask where the funds you deposit come from. This can happen when your deposits rise sharply, do not match the information we have about you, or reach amounts that trigger additional checks.
4.2 Examples of evidence we accept:
- a recent payslip or a bank statement showing your salary
- proof of savings or investments
- paperwork confirming you sold a property or vehicle
- inheritance or pension paperwork
4.3 Deposits may be put on hold while we examine the documents you provide.
4.4 Every deposit must come from a payment method that belongs to you. Payments from other people's cards, wallets or bank accounts are refused.
Monitoring accounts over time
5.1 Verification does not end after sign-up. We keep an eye on accounts for unusual patterns, such as many new payment methods in a short time or cashing out soon after depositing without placing many bets.
5.2 Please update your details in your account when they change, for example after a move or a name change.
5.3 When an ID document expires, we will request a current one.
5.4 This monitoring also supports safer play. If activity suggests play is becoming hard to manage, we may contact you about our Staying in Control tools.
Screening for public roles and sanctions
6.1 We screen all players against politically exposed person lists and sanctions lists at registration and regularly afterwards.
6.2 A person with a prominent public role today, or in the recent past, counts as a politically exposed person. Family members, business partners and close associates face the same checks.
6.3 Politically exposed persons are still welcome to play here. We simply run additional checks and may ask for documents proving where your money and wealth came from.
6.4 People who appear on sanctions lists cannot open or hold an account here, and we freeze funds whenever the law requires it.
Confirming your identity and age
7.1 When you register, type your full name exactly the way your ID spells it, then add your birth date and home address. Please keep this information accurate and current.
7.2 When documents are needed, we look for:
- Photo ID: a Canadian passport or a driver's licence. A provincial or territorial photo card also works.
- Address: a utility bill, a current bank statement or an official government letter, showing the exact name and home address we have on file for you.
- Payment ownership: for cards, a photo of the card front with the middle digits covered. For e-wallets or bank accounts, a statement or screenshot that displays your name.
7.3 Images must be clear, in full colour, show all four corners and be unedited. ID must not be expired.
7.4 Send your documents by email to our support address, or upload them from your account.
7.5 Once your documents are approved, or if we need anything more, we will notify you by email.
